About Heather Cogar
Heather Cogar is a high-achieving real estate agent based in Florida with a proven record of success gained by forging solid relationships with her clients. Cogar works tirelessly to ensure property buyers take full advantage of the significant financial investment they make when purchasing a home. Not only does Cogar help her clients find the home of their dreams, but she also helps them understand the true value of real estate as an asset. She works to educate clients on how to leverage a property’s location, value, or amenities as a financial vehicle or collateral when entering future wealth-building ventures.
Before pivoting to real estate, Cogar worked diligently in law enforcement and served her community as a Deputy Sheriff. Before graduating from the Police Academy, her hard work ethic paid off as she won the Physical Fitness award, a truly impressive honor, especially for a female who must complete the arduous fitness regimen required by all future police officers. It wasn’t long before Heather’s sharp interpersonal skills earned her local recognition as a prominent “40 Under 40” listee published in the local newspaper and showcased with a “Rising Star” award from the Chamber of Commerce.
Throughout her career in both fields, Heather has never forgotten to acknowledge those who have provided support along the way: “There are so many people for me to thank for believing in me,” says Heather, “and my passion for law enforcement and real estate is my way to pay it forward.”
Early Life and Education
Heather Cogar’s life story is both inspirational and impressive. She grew up in a home similar to many American children, a home where the effects of parental drug addiction caused emotional turmoil and destroyed family bonds. She was placed in foster care during her early teens, but her years of living within a dysfunctional family environment resulted in ongoing behavioral problems. This traumatic event, which Heather ultimately overcame, began a period marked by patterns of running away and self-destructive behavior.
Her life took a positive turn when Cogar entered a transformative program aimed at helping young people overcome life events that may cause symptoms similar to post-traumatic stress. During her stay at Camp E-Nini-Hassee, she overcame bouts of anxiety and depression and regained control of her life after graduating from the program. Heather is forever grateful for Chief Gale and the team at camp. When Cogar re-entered public high school, she excelled both academically and socially. By the time she graduated, Heather had been crowned homecoming queen, was included on the Honor’s List for academic excellence, and earned four scholarships – all demonstrating her unwavering resilience and determination to succeed, even in the face of personal adversity.
After high school, Cogar pursued her dream of higher education and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business from the College of Central Florida. She went on to make a name for herself in public service as a courageous police officer working within the local Sheriff’s department. After the birth of her child, she decided, in her family’s best interests, to pivot to a career in real estate. Motivated to give her son a home filled with peace and love, Heather studied tirelessly to complete the 63-hour pre-licensing education requirement and passed the Florida Real Estate Sales Associate Examination.
